Busan Foundation of International Cooperation(BFIC) Secretary-General Chung Jong-pil and Deputy Secretary-General Lee Chi-woo attended the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in May 12, Thursday. The opening ceremony was attended by about 20 local officials, including the Ambassador for International Relations in Busan, Honorary Consul General, President of the Busan Daily News, and Busan Diplomatic missions in Japan, Russia, and Mongolia. The event was held in the order of the two countries' national performances, guests' greetings, tape cutting ceremony, commemorative photos, and reception.

Bakyt Dyussenbayev(Бақыт Дүйсенбаев) Kazakhstan ambassador to South Korea said, "Korea and Kazakhstan have reached their 30th anniversary this year, and more than $800 million in corporate investment is already paying off," adding, "We are very happy to open a consulate in Busan, which is in charge of Yeongnam area, this year.“ Secretary-General Chung Jong-pil responded in a congratulatory speech, saying, "We will make it a year of Busan-Kazakhstan exchange and cooperation to mark the 30th anniversary of Korea-Kazakhstan diplomatic relations by hosting the Eurasian Citizen's Expedition, the Eurasian City Forum, and the Kazakhstan-Busan Film Festival." As the Busan Consulate General of Kazakhstan opened, it is expected that Busan-Kazakhstan exchange and cooperation will be further expanded. |
