To contain the community spread of COVID-19 by minimizing visits to Immigration offices, period of stay of registered(reported residence) aliens will be collectively extended as below. Target • 1. A registered foreigner whose expiration date of stay is between Apr 9, 2020 and May 31, 2020, 2. a legal resident on the effective date(Apr 9) | < Exception for collective extension measure > | | | | • Non-professional employment(E-9), ship crew(E-10), unknown person • Person who was overseas on the effective date(Apr 9) • Person who already filed a complaint against allowance for extension of stay by visiting or online • Nation health insurance‧ tax defaulter • Person who received extension of stay for departure(Article 32 of enforcement regulations of Immigration Control Act) before the collective extension process or received suspension of departure deadline(Article 33 of enforcement regulations of Immigration Control Act) |
Extension measure • Except for targets for exceptional process below, general targets above will be collectively extended by 3 months from the expiration date of stay. | < Targets for exceptional process > | | | | □ The following targets will be extended by the upper limit of stay according to statute·guidline within 3 months since the expiration date of stay. • Workers in hotel·adult entertainment industry(E-6-2) → 2 years since the initial entry date • Family of married immigrants(F-1-5) → 4 years and 10 months since the initial entry date • Work and visit(H-2) and accompanied family(F-1-11) → 4 years and 10 months since the initial entry date |
Precaution • The collectively extended period of stay will not be separately written on Alien Registration Card even if targets visit the Immigration office.
